The Importance of the Contrast in Interior Design
The correct and consistent use of colors, materials and light in the interior undoubtedly has a great effect on perceiving the space. Setting the consistency and harmony in the interior correctly is not just about equipping the space with similar objects. The perfect fiction of interior design; It is possible by emphasizing some details and situations while considering the space as a whole with the concepts of volume, proportion, material, scale and color. So, what does bringing one or more of these concepts to the fore in a certain proportion compared to other elements, that is, creating contrast in the space, gives the space? The contrast in the interior is in itself a savior in strengthening the dynamics of the space and stripping the environment from the dullness and monotony. The proportional contrasts in design language, material, color, transparency or scale make the look more attractive and dynamic. There is also a misunderstanding that contrast is a highlight or an accent. In order for the contrast to reach its purpose and perceive, there should be at least two objects / elements in the fiction of interior design. In other words, the goal is not to make an item stand out or dominant, but to make two or more colors / objects / situations compete with each other and to activate the passive one. Contrast with Colors It is the first form of contrast that comes to mind. It brings dynamism to the space by using two colors in opposite groups in the color spectrum together. For example, orange and blue are often used together in interiors and these two dominant colors compete to make each other passive in spaces. Contrast with Materials It can turn furniture and interiors into masterpieces with the right material use and detail analysis. Using two materials that seem unrelated to each other, that is, they are not alike, in interior spaces requires mastery of design. For example, using glass and solid wood together in a furniture; It combines opposite elements in many concepts such as weight and lightness, permeability and absorbency, temperature and coldness. Contrast with Style It is possible to create fascinating spaces if this contrast paradise, which we know as eclectic style, is created correctly. Combining modern and classic takes courage, but with the right amount, iconic interior designs can be achieved. We cannot tell what style the designs in this contrast have because the two styles are in a strong race with each other.
