A picture is worth a thousand words. This is the famous phrase that we hear many times. Yet, traveling teaches much more than the picture itself. Traveling teaches things that cannot be learned from schools, books, or TVs. At this issue of our ‘Traveler of the Lost City’ series, I wanted to share with you the photos of an extraordinary city; CORDOBA. Cordoba, once the capital of the Andalusia in the Liberia Peninsula, is one of the famous destinations for traveler / history lovers. At one time (about 1000 AD), Cordoba was the most populous & wealthiest & most metropolitan city in the world. At that time, the population was about 1 million residents. This city had witnessed great things as well as much cruelty in the history. It was here that Jewish and Muslims were prosecuted because they were minority; later they were expelled from the country. This world would be much, much better place if people stop fighting and start embracing each other. All the chaos and killings would come to an end if people respected each other and became more tolerant to one another. In this city in the past, people had witnessed that all different people lived together in harmony. At this same city, people witnessed the massacre of minorities. Rulers whether that is Christians or Muslims, they can change the course of history to keep their power. And at that time, they did it all in the name of religion, in the name of some sacred words that they believe would enable them to act. That is what happened every time, the ruler sought excuse in the religion, and that religious always had a way to enable that ruler to do whatever necessary to keep her/his power intact. I wish that my dreams will become reality one day; and people in every corner of the world will live in peace and serenity.
