DESIGNING FURNITURE WITH SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHY MATERIALS
Designing is not just about making aesthetically appealing furniture. But now, it is about designing sustainable furniture in our fast developing world.
In today's world, the designers have to consider the above diagram when they are choosing the materials to be used. In that context, using the raw materials from right sources or choosing the materials with correct formulation should be the guiding principle for every product designer.
We see this trend in construction, in furniture and many other things.
When we consider the furniture itself, the particle boards or MDF boards is already a product which saves lots of tree because it is produced from wood from dead trees or sustainable forest.
As relating this to edgebanding, edgebanding is the second most important component of furniture. And production process requires lots of energy and carefully selected raw materials.
Designers have to work with identical edgebanding that matches to boards. At the same time, they need to choose the edgebanding supplier that values our green planet. In other words, if the selected supplier is not focused on producing edgebanding in correct way, this will result in lots of pollution for the world and extra energy consumption.
